Chief Pilot


Aviation Recruiting is currently seeking a full-time Chief Pilot for an FAA Part 135 and Part 145 company specializing in the charter, management, maintenance, and sale of corporate aircraft. They currently maintain a robust fleet of twenty-five aircraft that fly both domestically and internationally.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Report to the Director of Operations and act on behalf of the Director of Operations in his/her absence
  • Maintain proficiency as PIC in Challenger 601, Falcon 50/900, Hawker 800, or Lear 45 and fly as required
  • Interview pilot candidates, make hiring recommendations, and conduct annual pilot performance reviews
  • Supervise flight crew personnel, serve as point of contact for questions, and mentor and develop the pilot team
  • Assist Crew Scheduler in creating rotation schedules, approving vacation time and schedule requests ensuring the fleet has appropriate pilot coverage
  • Establish and maintain records as required by the Federal Aviation Regulations, training vendors, and company policies and monitor the maintaining of these records
  • Advise the Director of Training regarding training of flight crew personnel
  • Schedule pilot training efficiently in order to minimize schedule disruptions
  • Manage the preparation and maintenance of proficiency records, pilot files, flight schedules, reports, and correspondence pertaining to flight operations activities
  • Ensure compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and organizational standards
  • Perform an active role in the Company’s Charter Safety Management System
  • Process and take action on accident, incident, and/or flight crew reports
  • Liaise with other department heads to resolve issues and increase operational efficiencies
  • Develop, implement, and review the standard operating procedures
  • Identify deficiencies, then develop, implement, and verify preventative and corrective measures
  • Communicate as appropriate with regulatory authorities regarding issues related to the safety and quality of Company Aircraft Charter

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Airline Transport Pilot License
  • Type rating for at least one or more of the following aircraft types: Challenger 601, Falcon 50/900, Hawker 800, Lear 45
  • Minimum total time: 5,000 hours
  • Minimum PIC time on turbo jet: 1,000 hours
  • Previous management experience required
  • Previous Part 135 Chief Pilot experience preferred
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve in a fast pace environment
  • Strong organization and communication skills
  • Continual on call availability during non-business hours
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
