Safety, Training, and Compliance Manager

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure application and transfer of learning of established performance measures
  • Oversee compliance with Operational reporting
  • Ensure Company policies, systems, programs, processes, procedures and/or plans are implemented, audited and compliant throughout the organization
  • Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with applicable regulations and requirements of the customer airlines
  • Enforce accountability practices for operational safety and security throughout the organization
  • Partner with Corporate team to ensure changes to programs, policies and systems that affect operational responsibilities or performance are implemented and communicated as soon as feasible to applicable management, front line personnel and support staff
  • Partner with corporate team to ensure compliance with Event Response Program and Business Continuity Plan
  • Ensure compliance with Company policy of employees holding positions within the organization that affect operational safety and security are filled by personnel that possess the knowledge, skills, training, and experience appropriate for the position; and Personnel who perform operationally critical functions are required to maintain competence on the basis of continued education and training
  • Educate, manage and enforce compliance with document management systems and control of records, and is a driver of continuous incremental improvement
  • Offer operational field support remotely and at stations as operationally required in conjunction with field operations leadership. (SME by business line and customer)
  • Coach, counsel and mentor field employees while transferring learning through experience
  • Conduct audits as an impartial and functionally independent employee from the operational areas to be audited
  • On the basis of continued education, assist with enforcing, through repetition, a culture that has safety and security as fundamental operational priorities for the purpose of preventing accidents, incidents and breeches
  • Implement the safety program and investigate accidents, incidents and irregularities or other non-routine operational occurrences that maybe precursors of accidents or incidents
  • Make recommendations for use by operations management including CAPA to review and introduce possible new procedures, processes and training materials
  • Disseminate relevant safety information and ensure Compliance with applicable regulations and requirements of customer airlines
  • Monitor field compliance with Transportation Security Administration (TSA) policies; U.S. Customs regulations; IATA and ICAO security requirements; and Federal, Local and State regulations
  • Provide Compliance Training to the stations as required
  • Perform other duties assigned by QAS management
  • Ability to travel 50% or more of the time
  • Availability to travel on short notice to meet immediate business needs would be required

Essential Skills and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or equivalent experience
  • 7-10 years of compliance experience is REQUIRED
  • Extensive knowledge of, and experience in the Aviation Industry. (+5 years preferred)
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities
  • Experience implementing new processes, programs, policies and procedures
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers, and to represent the Company at business meetings
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and coach a number of managers based in various geographical locations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, curriculum and procedure manuals
  • Effective communicator with the ability to work with all levels of management while communicating issues and making recommendations, and to act as a liaison with support departments
  • Ability to perform as a project manager
  • Strong time management skills and ability to judge urgency and project deadlines
