AH-1Z Avionics Subject Matter Expert (SME) – 30 Day Contract – Work from Home

This position will be either as an Independent Contractor (if eligible) or as a part time/ short duration (remote work from home) position. Duration of no more than 30 days’ work.


We are seeking an experienced AH-1Z Avionics Technician to assist in the development of  training content for AH-1Z avionics maintenance procedures.

The AH-1Z Avionics SME will provide avionics expertise on Bell’s AH-1Z aircraft.  Furthermore, the SME will provide expertise in developing Avionics training curriculum outlines, as well as input for selected Avionics maintenance procedures (e.g., inspection procedures, component removal procedures) that the company will develop into simulated software demonstrations for joint Business Development with Bell.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

  1. Draft and verify AH-1Z Avionics training curriculum outlines and related training hours
  2. Draft and verify (selected) AH-1Z Maintenance Procedures
  3. Draft and verify (selected) AH-1Z Maintenance Requirements
  4. Draft and verify (selected) AH-1Z Maintenance Procedure Checklists
  5. Verify ground support equipment (used with selected procedures)
  6. Review and authenticate (as accurate to real-world procedures), the simulated courseware developed by Company’s courseware vendor.
  7. Help design curriculum content and training aides
  8. Use appropriate templates or formats to help build structured and effective training modules.
  9. Help develop instructor guides and instructor lesson plans to prepare future instructors.
  10. Coordinate with simulation courseware developers (by providing SME input).

Required educational/skills background:

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must be authorized to work in the United States (U.S.)
  3. Working knowledge of AH-1Z Avionics Systems
  4. Knowledge of Naval maintenance publications, maintenance requirement cards and the ability to document maintenance utilizing the Naval aviation Logistics Command Information System (NALCOMIS)
  5. Possess the ability to use electrical schematics, wiring, diagrams, and interpret applicable technical data.

Highly Desired:

Past experience as an AH-1Z Instructor (or equivalency) at one or more NAMTGD or equivalent OMA maintenance courses applicable to AH-1Z avionics, electrical systems, ComNav systems and wire repair.
