Title of position: Assistant Director of Human Resources

Employment location: Charlotte, NC

Summary/Objective: The Assistant Director of Human Resources, oversees all HR team members and functions, including leave of absence, travel, front desk/office management, record retention, and general HR compliance.

• Lead and develop the HR team members, driving performance and accountability
• Working with the Director, develop and track team productivity metrics
• Serve as the liaison between various business functions, American Airlines, and IT for HR-owned projects and systems
• Partner with other departments to further LLE projects
• Lead the team that oversees all leave of absence functions, including FMLA and other medical leaves, personal leaves, and requests for reasonable accommodations
• Partner with COMPANY’s leave vendors to maximize the vendor relationship and ensure that COMPANY is receiving the level of service agreed upon
• Work in conjunction with the Workday team to build and update LOA processes within the HRIS system
• Provide support to the LOA team as it relates to ensuring that pay and benefits for associates on and returning from the various leaves is accurate and timely
• Oversight of programs tied to the SSO and 3rd party vendors, such as Workers’ compensation
• Develops and report out leave metrics
• Oversee administration of COMPANY’s employee travel program and development of COMPANY’s Travel Coordinators
• Support the Travel Coordinators with managing travel benefits as they relate to COMPANY active team members and retirees to include travel inquires and dependent verification
• Serve as the liaison between American Airlines Travel department and COMPANY Travel Team and provide direction and support as needed
• Provide guidance on solutions to travel related issues and work with Corporate Communications to provide updates on an as needed basis
• Oversee administration of front desk duties
• Oversees and initiates HR compliance projects, including record retention best practices, unemployment insurance responses, and other related areas
• Manages the HR policy development process, ensuring policies are regularly reviewed and updated, and new policies are developed and properly introduced
• Responsible for the content and revisions of COMPANY’s Team Member Handbook and other HR-owned policies
• Responsible for ensuring legal compliance with HR records and files, including maximizing COMPANY’s electronic records system (Dynafile)
• Responsible for ensuring timely responses to external information requests, including those from state and local governments, subpoenas, and employment verification requests
• Ensure Human Resources team is working with COMPANY’s Corporate Communications team to disseminate key changes in HR policies and procedures to impacted personnel
• Oversee and participate in special projects, as assigned, that encompass the breadth of HR functions
• Responsible for the Company’s Security and Safety Management System (SMS) and associated Safety Risk Management and Safety Assurance outputs
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business, or related field
• 7+ years of experience in human resources
• 1 or more years’ experience working with an HRIS
• Experience in successfully resolving concerns with employees, managers, and government agencies
• Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office programs and human resource related systems
• Ability to speak/read/write in English
• If hired, must be able to demonstrate that you are authorized to work in the US

Preferred Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, to include, but not limited to leave management, policy development, compliance
• Experience working in a travel database
• Experience with Workday HRIS
• Experience with Dynafile or other electronic personnel systems
