JOB SUMMARY: Install, inspect, test, adjust, or repair avionics equipment, such as, radio, navigation and communication, in-flight entertainment and lighting systems. Applicant must have knowledge of the pitot and static systems as well. Set up and operate ground support and test equipment to perform functional flight tests of electrical and electronic systems
1. Test and troubleshoot instruments, components, and assemblies, using circuit testers, oscilloscopes, or voltmeters.
2. Keep records of maintenance and repair work.
3. Coordinate work with that of engineers, technicians, and other aircraft maintenance personnel.
4. Interpret flight test data to diagnose malfunctions and systemic performance problems.
5. Install electrical and electronic components, assemblies, and systems in aircraft, using hand tools, power tools, or soldering irons.
6. Adjust, repair, or replace malfunctioning components or assemblies, using hand tools or soldering irons.
7. Connect components to assemblies such as radio systems, instruments, magnetos, inverters, and in-flight refueling systems, using hand tools and soldering irons.
8. Assemble components such as switches, electrical controls, and junction boxes, using hand tools or soldering irons.
9. Fabricate parts and test aids as required.
10. Lay out installation of aircraft assemblies and systems, following documentation such as blueprints, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
11. Assemble prototypes or models of circuits, instruments, and systems for use in testing.
12. Operate computer-aided drafting and design applications to design avionics system modifications.
1. Minimum 4 years experience as an electrical/avionics technician performing troubleshooting and repairs on avionics systems installed in corporate jets such as systems made by Universal, Rockwell Collins, Honeywell, etc.
2. Proficient in the operation and troubleshooting of electrical/avionics systems in addition to knowledge of other systems such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls or structural installations and repairs.
3. Must be able to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
4. High School Diploma or GED; prefer additional training in electronics/avionics from a technical college or other OEM type training
