Composites Engineering Manager

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.   Other duties may be assigned.

Individual shall be responsible for coordinating and delegating the daily functions of the Engineering Department. Sales support through cost estimating for quotes and process improvement on parts fabrication.

Establishes current and long-range objectives, plans, and policies, subject to approval by senior management.

Creates a technical vision for the company and plans for implementation of new technical projects or product lines.

Dispenses advice, guidance, direction, and authorization to carry out major plans and procedures, consistent with established policies and senior management approval.

Works with product development, sales, and marketing to discern competitiveness of new technologies.

Reviews operating results of the organization and compares them to established objectives, and takes steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken to correct unsatisfactory results.

Creates technical budgets, allocates resources, and determines schedule of product releases or project deadlines.

Plans and directs all investigations and negotiations pertaining to technical aspects of mergers, joint ventures, acquisition of businesses, or sales of major assets, with approval of senior management.

Establishes and maintains an effective system of communications throughout the organization.

Analyzes new technologies and runs competitive analyses.

Represents organization with major customers, stakeholders, and the public.

Must be able to read and understand blueprints and process specifications.

Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles changes, sets personal standards, stays focused under pressure, and meets attendance/punctuality requirements.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Should have knowledge of CATIA Design software; ERP/MRP software; Excel Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) from four-year College or university

Supervisory Responsibility

Supervise and lead all members of the Engineering Department.
