CONFIDENTIAL ‘FAR 135 Director of Maintenance’

  • Ensure safety (the minimization of risk) is at the forefront of all discussions and decisions: contribute toward achieving employer’s Safety Management System objective of ensuring zero levels of preventable injury or damage by removing unsafe aircraft from service
  • Create, maintain, and amend all modules of the Maintenance Procedures Manual or the FAA approved General Maintenance Manual
  • Assures that all maintenance records are kept up to date
  • Supervises the aircraft maintenance activities including overhaul, modifications, and structural repairs
  • Schedule’s maintenance and inspections on all company aircraft
  • Manages the MEL program in accordance with this manual
  • Maintains close liaison with the Director of Operations to keep him up to date on status of all aircraft
  • Maintains Weight & Balance records
  • Submits Mechanical Interruption Summary reports and Service Difficulty Reports
  • Assure that all maintenance personnel have a thorough knowledge of company policies, procedures, and FAR’s
  • Delegate authority to other personnel but retains responsibility
  • Official contact person for employer with the FAA assigned PMI
  • Responsible to ensure that all maintenance personnel’s records are reviewed and
  • Establish and maintain annual maintenance projection budgets for aircraft that are managed by the employer
  • Coordinate the proper cleaning, polish, and paint touch-up of the interior and exterior of all managed aircrafts
  • Coordinate and facilitate the proper detailing, interior and exterior, of all managed aircraft in preparation for an upcoming flight
  • Ensure aircraft recordkeeping is completed in a neat, accurate, timely, and well-organized manner
  • Ensure aircraft and engine logbooks and records are maintenance in a neat, accurate, and well- organized manner
  • Maintain currency of aircraft emergency equipment and required manuals

Provide effective and professional communications with the Director of Operations, Chief Pilot, Line Pilots, Charter Department Personnel, Repair Station, and other management positions regarding the airworthiness status of every airplane during; daily operations briefings, forecasted maintenance events; unscheduled maintenance events and aircraft that are experiencing mechanical difficulty and have caused passenger inconvenience

  • Coordinating with flight crew, maintenance technicians and parts suppliers during mechanical interruptions and scheduled inspections
  • Reviewing adequacy of logbook entries and release aircraft upon completion of emergency maintenance and scheduled inspections
  • Monitoring the progress of AOG maintenance
  • Coordinating with flight crew and maintenance technicians for proper MEL relief and sign-off
  • Tracking MEL deferrals and procuring parts and manpower for resolution 3.2.8.
  • Providing overnight, weekend and holiday on-call assistance
  • Assisting in general troubleshooting during mechanical irregularities
  • Overseeing basic aircraft servicing at home base
  • Overseeing the interior and exterior cleaning at home base
  • Overseeing basic pre-flight/post flight at home base



  • Bachelor’s degree preferred however extensive relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • A&P License
  • IA preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of Part 121 or 135 experience with large cabin aircraft including Certificates with Operations Specifications authorizing 10 or more cabin seats
  • Must have working knowledge of Part 145 and Part 135 regulations
  • Willing to travel to maintenance locations and providers as required to adequately oversee maintenance performance
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve in a fast pace environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with fleets of aircraft with 10+ seats
  • Experience with CAMP and CASS
