Contracts Administrator – Aerospace Manufacturing


Under the general direction of a Contracts Supervisor, negotiates and administers a variety of major contracts of large dollar value and/or technical complexity with various government agencies or other industrial firms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Submits proposals, negotiates with customer prices, schedules, terms and conditions of all proposals assigned, ensuring that terms are fair and acceptable to management.
  • Coordinates activities of all departments within the Company concerned with given proposal(s) to arrive at an acceptable contract.
  • In negotiations must be capable of justifying labor rates, burdens, manhours and material estimates.
  • Issues Sales Orders upon signing of contract, describing work to be performed, delivery schedules, any unusual terms or conditions of the contract to ensure that all terms and conditions are met; submits and negotiates changes or modifications to contract when requested by the customer or personnel and/or customers to discuss all aspects of proposal or contract, or to solve problems that arise in the performance of the contract.
  • Administers all aspects of the Contract which includes daily various data entry tasks along with addressing any invoice related issues.
  • Coordinates with all internal customers and maintains close liaison with external customer throughout the life of contract.
  • Prepares periodic reports showing pending, delinquencies, Sales Forecasts, Sales Orders status, etc., to keep management fully informed of progress.
  • Maintains knowledge of current and anticipated procurement needs and regulations through contacts in various government agencies, customer contacts and government or trade journals.
  • Report any unusual circumstance or condition to management.
  • Maintain personal productive and quality standards as determined by top management.
  • Follow standard practices and procedures as outlined by top management.
  • Maintain area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow all company regulations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Management.
  2. Over 5 years, up to and including 8 years of progressive experience in contracts administration.
  3. Broad knowledge of contract administration, and a good sense of timing in difficult negotiations.
  4. Working knowledge of procurement needs and regulations in various government agencies, government publications and trade journals.
  5. Ability to negotiate proposal(s) to arrive at the price, schedule, and terms acceptable to the company.
  6. Effective oral/written communication skills.
  7. Ability to work effectively in a team/collaborative environment.
  8. Strong Computer Skills including Microsoft Software
