Director of Ground Services


Director of Ground Services Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform all coordinative aspects of operations relating to flights set up of ground handling, airports, ticket counters, monitoring flight status, updating flight information post flight, and other duties as assigned
  • Ensure compliance with Company and federal rules, regulations and Operations Specifications
  • Source and negotiate ground, fuel, and other service providers to accommodate the flights of the company
  • Monitor invoicing to ensure compliance of vendors to pricing terms
  • Set up ground handling (above and below wing), baggage processes, obtain landing rights/permits, fuel releases, customs approvals, and airport slots for the company’s flights
  • Prepare flight schedules, arrange for overflight, landing and parking permits, customs requirements/clearances and arrange for fuel and ground handling as needed for all domestic and international flights
  • Prepare and submit manifests for TSA clearance (no-fly list), APHIS, and customs
  • Responsible for airport reporting (i.e. passenger/aircraft information) as required by the airports or other authorities
  • Enter all pertinent post flight data in the company’s flight operations system to record block times, fuel uplifts, passenger counts, baggage, etc.
  • Ensure that all Company departments and customers are updated and notified of all flight activity
  • Coordinate all aspects of off schedule flight operations and/or delays which need coordination between the airline, customers, and other employees
  • Work directly with the airline to coordinate all aspects of the flights and communicate information to other departments and customers

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Must possess a current passport and driver license
  • 5 years’ work experience with the above described job duties
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
  • Ability to use common sense and sound judgment to deal with situations and multiple problems that occur simultaneously in a highly controlled, fast paced, and regulated environment
  • Knowledge of computer and computer software, including MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to operate a variety of office equipment, including printers, scanners, copiers, telephones, and fax machines
  • Knowledge of Flight Operations System software
  • Must be available to travel domestically and internationally without restrictions
  • Must be available to work days, evenings, weekends, nights and holidays
