Director of Operations (CFR Part 121)


The Director of Operations is responsible to report to the COO in designing infrastructure that supports the safe execution of flight operations consistent with the company Values and economic goals by supporting management and supervisory staff to develop operational solutions, and act as point of contact with pilots on operational control issues. Key responsibilities include performing and delivering various flight operations functions and programs including but not limited to aircraft performance, record keeping, FAA relations, operational control and talent acquisition.

Qualification

  1. Be qualified through training, experience and expertise;
  2. Hold an Airline Transport Pilot Certificate.
  3. Have at least 3 years supervisory or managerial experience within the last 6 years, in a position that exercised operational control over any operations conducted with large airplanes under 14 CFR Part 121
  4. Must have 15+ years relevant experience in aviation industry, with a minimum of 10 years in part 121 airline operations.
  5. Ability to successfully manage and communicate in stressful, high service environments.
  6. Experience managing flight operations department with a proven track and compliance record with FAA regulations and experience adhering to part 91, 121, ICAO and international operational policies.
  1. Must have strong computer skills (MS Office, Adobe Frame Maker)

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Reports to the COO.
  2. Is responsible for the flight operations department to ensure legal, safe and efficient operation. Responsible for development and enforcement of company policies and for ensuring compliance with all laws, rules, and regulations governing those flight activities.
  1. He/she is the most senior Company official held responsible for operational control. He/she ensures all policies and procedures as they relate to operational control are followed.
  2. Has authority to establish and modify the policies, procedures, instructions, and information for the following processes: Manual Currency Process, Operations Manual Process, Operational Control Process, Computer Based Record keeping Process, Hazardous Materials/Dangerous Goods Process, Other Persons with Operational Control Process, Use of Approved Areas, Special Airports, Routes and Airports Process, RVSM Authorization Process, Scheduling/Reporting System Process and Crewmember Flight/Duty Rest Times Process.
