FAR 135 Director of Operations

TITLE EMPLOYMENT:  FAR 135 Director of Operations

EMPLOYMENT LOCATION:  Confidential Employment location (Philadelphia, PA and surrounding area)

The employer is a proven leader in executive and commercial jet aviation.   The employer specializes in aircraft charter, management, sales, maintenance, and parts from their established FAA Part 135 and Part 145 operations in several locations in the US.

ROLE OBJECTIVES

The Director of Operations will oversee management procedures to ensure safe and efficient flight operations and operations support.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Identify ways to continually improve practices and efficiencies for various job functions to ensure smooth department operation
  • Collect and analyze service and maintenance data to identify trends, implement solutions, and ensure continual performance improvement is achieved
  • Establish flight department policies, procedures, instructions, and information and delegate the authority of specific decisions to department managers
  • Interface with customer representatives, coordinate customer communication activities, and resolve any questions or disputes on customer invoices or performed maintenance as needed
  • Ensure company remains Part 135 compliant
  • Ensure company maintains compliance with ARGUS, Wyvern, IS-BAO Standards
  • Responsible, jointly with the Chief Pilot, for the initiation, continuation, diversion, or termination of a flight
  • Coordinate with the FAA in all matters concerning the operation of aircraft and the performance and training of flight crew personnel
  • Assume the duties of the Chief Pilot in his or her absence
  • Coordinate with the Director of Maintenance on policies regarding maintenance standards and procedures pertaining to company aircraft, crewmembers, and manuals as well as the timely correction of mechanical irregularities and discrepancies
  • Monitor maintenance and mechanical delays encountered throughout a trip
  • Assist the Chief Pilot in managing crew training procedures to ensure pilots are current on all certifications and regulations with the help of department managers
  • Maintain consistent content across all airline manuals
  • Manage distribution of General Operations Manual (GOM)
  • Propose changes to the GOM as needed and present to the FAA for review and acceptance

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • This is a safety sensitive position which requires pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing

REQUIRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum five years Part 135 management experience
  • Minimum ten years of aviation experience
  • Experience managing an aviation operations department

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum ten years of Part 135 operations management experience
  • Minimum twenty years of aviation experience
  • Experience managing a minimum of 100 employees
