FBO Operations Manager – Sacramento, CA

This is a full time/direct hire position offering a competitive salary with full benefits package.

The FBO Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day overall management of the FBO line services and customer service including the fuel farm, inventories, facilities and equipment, and contributes to marketing, sales, and customer service relationships while maintaining and overseeing compliance and adherence to company policies and procedures and safety standards for the department’s staff and our clients and guests.

Job Type: Full-time

Status: Exempt/Salary

Pay: $85,000-150,000 depending on experience

Schedule: Monday – Friday with weekend availability.

Reporting to: Executive Vice President

Essential Functions:

  • Plans, directs, and coordinates activities concerned with the FBO operations in accordance with the company, governmental, and environmental agencies policies and regulations.
  • Management training and development of department personnel, securing the required number of staff and ensuring the required level of qualifications and experience.
  • Coordination with management, other departments, manufacturers, vendors and customers in matters of overriding importance.
  • Ensuring that all tasks are carried out in accordance with the company’s procedures, process specifications, technical requirements, manufacturer requirements, aviation rules, and every other applicable or accepted requirement of an authorized body.
  • Supports the development of pricing schedules and rates for any relevant ground handling services provided.
  • Participates in negotiations with commercial partners and third-party service providers, where and as necessary
  • Supports existing relationships with customers, vendors, and suppliers and establishes new relationships accordingly.
  • Manages and oversees the operation and maintenance of Ground Support Equipment, including specification of new equipment when necessary.
  • Responsibility for managing and operating the department within budget and performance expectations.
  • Enhances and reinforces training programs to ensure that a high and continuing level of safe operations, customer service and line service is maintained.
  • Communicates changes or additions to company or departmental policies to the staff.
  • Motivates and encourages all staff to provide the highest safety and service levels.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities and delegates responsibilities to qualified personnel, as necessary.
  • Any other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

  • Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on strong communication skills in both oral and written form.
  • Must be able to accommodate a flexible work schedule which may include working overtime, nights, weekends, holidays, and be on-call as required.
  • With company cell phone and iPad candidate must be able to make themselves available via technology connections from their home
  • Assist with Airfield Management
  • Able to communicate and work with military personnel.
  • Must be able to travel regionally 15%

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Responsible for managing and overseeing the performance of all quality control functions, safety training and standards, managers and supervisors, line service and customer service staff and facilities and equipment maintenance personnel, contractors, and vendors. Conducts performance evaluations for direct reports and facilitates discipline and termination of employees as needed in accordance with policy.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum five (5) years of progressive experience in FBO Management or the equivalent in an aviation related field
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (preferred) or equivalent combination of training and experience (must have at least High School diploma or GED certificate)
  • Fuel Farm management
  • Working knowledge of ATA 103 and NFPA 407
  • Aptitude in supervising and developing staff.
  • Former Military desirable
  • Must possess or be able to obtain a valid California state driver’s license
  • Meet the Company’s operational and safety training requirements.
  • Demonstrated ramp operation and management capability.
  • Consistently demonstrated good organizational and leadership skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook with the ability to learn new software and systems as required.
  • Customer relations skills required.
  • Ability to act under pressure and be adaptable to change on a constant basis.
  • Must pass all conducted drug/alcohol screens, background and security checks and prove eligibility for employment in the United States

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to drive to conferences, offsite meetings and meet with suppliers.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Possible exposure to hazardous noise levels, chemicals, fumes, and equipment.
  • Outside work in all types of weather conditions.
  • Ability to see and hear clearly.
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, twist, climb, push, pull and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate motor vehicles and ground support equipment such as trucks, vans, tugs, and cars.
