Lead Stress Engineer


Job Qualifications:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace or Aeronautical Engineering typically required.
  • Proficient in aircraft repair design and analysis. Ability to prepare accurate and concise hand sketches for repair or design improvements.
  • Proficient in MathCad, AutoCad, and Microsoft Office software. Solidworks experience a plus.
  • Must be able to develop finite element analysis (FEA) using FEA tools (Femap) which supports the design and certification of aircraft structural modifications. Fluent in static, fatigue, and damage tolerance (AFGROW).
  • Large aircraft experience in a Maintenance & Repair Organization (MRO) is expected.
  • Possess knowledge of FAA regulations/certification processes and related requirements. Experience working with FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) & FAA Specialists.
  • Experience with Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) Modifications preferred.
  • Possess comprehensive working knowledge of engineering principles, repair and fabrication practices, aviation hardware and general aircraft maintenance operations.
  • Must be able to develop structural test plans in support of testing required to validate engineering analysis.
  • Extensive knowledge of the use and application of aircraft technical data such as engineering drawings, SRM’s, MM’s, SB’s, IPC’s, etc.
  • Must be a self-starter, adaptable, highly motivated and able to work under pressure with a minimum level of supervision.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both written and oral) are a requirement of this position.
  • Teamwork is a critical component of this position.
  • Travel, both foreign and domestic, may be required.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • Must be willing and able to abide by company’s intellectual property agreement.
  • Must have experience in a leadership position
  • Prefer a minimum five years stress experience, preferably in commercial aircraft modifications.
