Military Aircraft MRO Subject Matter Expert (SME)

NOTE:  This Position Requires U.S., UK, Australia, or European Citizenship.  No Exceptions. 

Position Summary: 

  • The Military Aircraft Maintenance Repair and Overhaul Specialist will work in our Industry Development Organization. Candidates should possess experience in the delivery of air operations and aviation support services in tightly regulated and safety critical domains and have experience in developing MRO strategies to drive cross fleet synergies in areas such as engines, avionic systems and general aircraft systems

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Engage with local and international companies in identifying potential localization projects as they relate to military aircraft MRO activities
  • Engage in the development of cross platform localization plans for targeted capabilities and provide technical insight on the approach to implementation
  • Review localization proposals and provide technical input on products and platforms and their relevant supply chains
  • Identify expected regulatory and / or technical challenges in the delivery and implementation of military aircraft MRO localization plans and advise mitigation actions
  • Engagement with end user(s) and other regulatory authorities to provide status updates on the implementation of localization projects for military aircraft MRO
  • Take part in local industry capability evaluations and assessments
  • Provide insight on MRO future trends and global players capabilities
  • Work with local vendors to reduce maintenance costs through driving systemic and programmatic improvements in line with lean and Six Sigma principles.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience: 

  • BS Degree or higher in a suitable engineering discipline
  • Must have a minimum 10yrs previous experience within an aerospace maintenance and production organization
  • Preferable experience working closely with an aerospace design organization
  • Preferable experience working closely with procurement or industry development to identify and certify new sources of supply
  • Working knowledge of airframe and system design
  • Detailed knowledge of airworthiness regulations (e.g. EASA Part 145)
  • Knowledge and experience of working to ISO/AS9001 quality standards
  • Knowledge of current avionic technologies and an ability to assess their suitability for application to current and emerging projects
  • Good knowledge of aircraft mechanical and control systems
  • Appreciation of manufacturing, and experience working with suppliers for manufacture of prototypes and end products.

  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage diverse stakeholders to meet challenging timescales within budget and quality requirements
  • Proactive, supportive and disciplined approach to staff development and management
  • Ability to follow a clear, logical process methodically
  • Good level of numeracy
  • Good IT skills – particularly MS Word and MS Excel
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Able to prioritize work and operate on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be an effective team player, and have the ability to be able to work autonomously
  • Capable of working assiduously and under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Willingness to tackle non-core tasks if requested
  • Strong commitment to the delivery of excellent quality outputs and delivery of customer service to both internal and external customers
