Operations Manager


Basic Function: This position is responsible for managing all production personnel and activities, including CNC Programming and OEM production. This position is accountable for operational performance of all production cells. In addition, the OM will ensure appropriate staffing levels, provide for employees’ general welfare, ensure quality and safety standards are met, ensure turn time and delivery targets are met, and provide the leadership required to maintain an effective team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage production activities and personnel through Business Unit Leaders to achieve required turn times and deliveries
  • Ensure EH&S standards and procedures are met and all employees remain safe
  • Ensure all Quality standards and procedures are met
  • Promote continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational performance
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels to support production schedules
  • Direct the justification and acquisition of capital equipment required to support short and long-term business plans
  • Aid in development and implementation of budgets, forecasts, policies, and long-range plans
  • Ensure compliance with UTC Code of Ethics for all Operations personnel
  • Support design of repair programs for reliability, repeatability, and profitability
  • Discharge daily duties and responsibilities in such a fashion as to maintain harmonious employee relations at all times, working toward the Company’s commitment to remain union-free through the avoidance of third-party intervention
  • A high degree of drive and focus on operation excellence, as well as experience with Lean and ACE principles is required
  • Demonstrate commitment to EH&S excellence / continual improvement by:
    • Completing 100% of required EH&S training courses on time
    • Becoming educated on the job hazards and safety risks of the job-specific tasks performed
    • Evaluating and mitigating EH&S risks before starting each task (including non-routine)
    • Immediately reporting EH&S incidents, near hits and unsafe conditions
    • Complying with all EH&S legal requirements
    • Implementing assigned responsibilities to achieve EH&S goals
    • Actively supporting EH&S culture improvement by working safely at all times and reinforcing the safe work practices of others

Education and Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business-related field
  • Minimum of 10 years’ management experience (preferably in the turbine engines/parts repair and refurbishment field)
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong supervisory/managerial background
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement principles
