Part 135 – Director of Maintenance

Description

Seeking a full-time FAR 119 Director of Maintenance for a Part 135 charter flight operating company that has been in business for over 10 years.

Position Overview

The Director of Maintenance reports to the Accountable Manager and oversees the management and coordination of all aircraft maintenance activities, personnel, and maintenance control of the fleet aircraft. The DOM is responsible for directing, planning, and laying out the details of inspection standards, methods and procedures used on all aircraft in complying with all applicable federal aviation regulations and manufacturers’ specifications.

Position Responsibilities

  • Supervise, assist, train, and direct all employees assigned to the maintenance department
  • Participate as a member of the Safety Management System (SMS) Committee
  • Coordinate with and oversee the maintenance activity required to be provided by outside maintenance contractors, FBO’s and MRO’s
  • Schedule aircraft maintenance on a first priority basis considering factors such as flight schedules, crewing, and parts availability
  • Review flight records, checking mechanical irregularities and ensure all discrepancies are properly addressed
  • Ensure all aircraft are properly maintained in accordance with applicable FARs and Operations Specifications
  • Exercise oversight of quotes and invoices to ensure proper billing
  • See that the proper maintenance record entries are made at the completion of any required inspection item and correction of discrepancies
  • Maintain all current aircraft maintenance records in an organized and accurate fashion
  • Responsible for conducting conformity inspections of aircraft that will be added to the Part 135 certificate
  • Confer, discuss and provide information to contractors on scope of work, maintenance required, and obtain approval of work orders
  • Keep manuals up to date and ensure personnel have a thorough knowledge of aircraft maintenance manuals, applicable FARs and applicable portions of company manuals
  • Ensure all inspections are properly performed on all work prior to its approval for return to service
  • Maintain Company’s Aircraft Continuous Airworthy Maintenance Program and its revisions (when required by fleet aircraft increase)
  • Drive process improvement to optimize productivity and efficiency along with quality, cost reduction, cycle time, on-time delivery safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and performance measures
  • Ensure compliance with all company and Federal policies, procedures, and SOPs
  • Oversee administration of CASS program (when required by fleet aircraft increase)
  • Handle questions and problems on work in progress, as required

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred however extensive relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree
  • US FAA A&P License Required
  • IA Required
  • Minimum of 10 years of Part 121 or 135 experience with large cabin aircraft including Certificates with Operations Specifications authorizing 10 or more cabin seats
  • Must have working knowledge of Part 145 and Part 135 regulations
  • Willing to travel to maintenance locations and providers as required to adequately oversee maintenance performance
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve in a fast pace environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Hawker, Citation and Challenger aircraft experience highly preferred
  • Experience with fleets of aircraft with 10+ seats
  • Experience with CAMP and CASS
