PMA Engineer – Aerospace Engineering & Manufacturing – Aftermarket Product Development

Job Description: 

The Aftermarket Product Development Engineer creates and manages designs of new aerospace products that meet FAA-PMA regulations for safety and functionality. This job involves reverse engineering, product development, prototyping and testing, and support of product and sales teams. The product development engineer must work as part of the team to development the new product(s), defining data, production specifications, and the PMA application package.

Primary duties, tasks and responsibilities:

  • Help drive the growth of an industry leading aerospace company through new product development
  • Develop and substantiate New FAA-PMA components and parts.
  • Reverse Engineer existing products and develop superior solutions
  • Develop 3D models, drawings, and the other data
  • Compile, Submit, and support FAA-PMA design applications
  • Coordinate and support engineering efforts for both prototyping and normal production
  • Complete Engineering changes to facilitate efficient production

 Requirements and skills needed for success at this position:

  • Two/four-year technical degree (Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, Aviation Maintenance) and 5 years of experience in a similar role
  • FAA- PMA product certification experience
  • Communicate effectively across multi-functional teams, with customers, and the FAA
  • Knowledge of basic structural design and analysis of mechanical components
  • Understanding and experience with aircraft and their related systems
  • Solid modeling and CAD proficiency
  • Understanding and the ability to apply GD&T (ASME Y14.5M)

Requirements computer skills:

  •       MS Office
  •       3D CAD Software (Inventor, SolidWorks, Unigraphics, Etc.)

Additional skills that are desired:

  • Metallurgy and material properties knowledge
  • Finite Element Analysis experience (FEA)
  • Aircraft maintenance experience
  • Metallurgy and material properties knowledge
  • Experience with Department of Defense Source Approval Request process
  • Experience with FAA DER approved repairs
