Systems Support Engineer (Avionics) – Americas

Job Summary

In this position, the candidate will work on the development and integration of complex electronic systems together with the employer’s customers with regard to system performance, functional safety, reliability and robustness.   The candidate will also have the possibility to grow into the role of technical sales engineer. The employer’s customers are the leading airplane and space integrators which gives the candidate the possibility to participate in projects of tomorrow’s aircraft and space vehicles.

Job Tasks

  • Provides customer technical support, plus helps evaluate customer requirements and needs to determine how to align with the employer’s technologies and products to create a solution (architectures, uses cases, benefits, etc…)
  • Executes on-site quickstarts (lab setup of equipment), training, and seminars with the customer to demonstrate the value proposition of the employer’s solutions
  • Creates technical proposals and/or supports the sales team on the business proposal and business case development
  • Designs and establishes, in concert with corporate engineering, a US lab for developing new customer facing demonstrations that show the technology benefits and for doing first line problem investigation
  • Supports and participates in marketing programs, conferences, and events
  • Creates and delivers technical papers and/or presentations
  • Prepares reports and provides feedback to management personnel on a timely basis
  • Other tasks as directed by management

Candidate Profile

  • University degree for technical studies (e.g., Computer Engineering, Electronics, Informatics)
  • Background in Aerospace electronics and/or systems required
  • Strong software programming skills, including Linux, and strong lab skills for isolating and debugging problems – essential for quickstarts and on-site customer support
  • The ability to work closely and coordinate with the multiple internal departmental teams both in the US and internationally, while being highly self-motivated and accustomed to working autonomously
  • The ability to learn new products quickly and comprehensively in order to effectively support potential clients
  • Knowledge in software and hardware development for real-time embedded systems
  • ARINC 653 experience or familiarization is desired
  • Background in aerospace electronics and/or systems required
  • Knowledge with RTCA DO-254 and DO-178C is desired
  • Familiarity with FPGA and ASIC based applications is desired
  • Familiarity with Embedded Computing systems a desire
  • The ability to qualify client’s needs/requirements and then follow-up with recommended solutions best suited to their needs
  • Excellent communication skills (phone, person and writing)
  • The ability to effectively publicly speak in front of various sized groups
  • Must have clean driving record & license
  • Must have ability to obtain a US Passport, international travel may be required
  • Must be legal US citizen
