Vice President of Sales – Memphis, TN area or South Florida area

The employer is considered an industry leader in the business of buying, selling, managing, and recycling a wide variety of commercial aviation assets for an array of domestic and international clients. The company specializes in Aircraft Disassembly, Component Sales, Asset & Inventory Management, and End-of-Life Recycling Programs.

The employer is a wholly owned U.S. subsidiary of an international company and is responsible for the international company’s aircraft recycling business outside of their international location and is a key asset to their global disassembly and distribution network.  Together, the employer and the international holding company provide global solutions for aging aircraft, further strengthening their combined status as a full value-chain aircraft solutions provider.

Description & Responsibilities

The VP of Sales is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company by working with the President and Board of Directors to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans, policies relating to component sales.  He/She is ultimately responsible for the trading of aircraft component inventory in both “as removed” as well as “tagged/repaired” condition by means of exchanges and outright sales. The candidate will develop and execute business sales strategies on a global scale and will cultivate relationships with customers worldwide to maximize trading opportunities and revenue growth. He/She will have excellent knowledge of commercial aircraft components while actual trading experience is essential. The VP of Sales must be self-motivated and flexible with the ability to succeed in a busy environment and can meet deadlines. The growth and development of the customer base, to include airlines, OEM’s, MRO’s will be a primary annual KPI for the VP of Sales position. As the company operates under a “people to people” business model where relationships and customer service set us apart from other companies in the industry the VP of Sales candidate must have developed contacts and have been in the component sales industry for over 10 years.

The VP of Sales responsibilities include:

 Development and implementation of a comprehensive component sales business plan which includes a growth strategy focused both on financial profitability and customer satisfaction

  • Develop and execute a global sales strategy for the entire sales force in line with top managements growth requirements by means of exchanges & outright sale.
  • Managing sales department which includes annual KPI setting and daily, weekly, monthly, and annual component sales reports to senior management
  • Maintain frequent contact with airline, OEM and MRO customers and assist in arranging business meetings with prospective clients (virtual and in person) for the component sales team
  • Analyze sales statistics and conduct research to identify new markets, trends and customer needs to assist in formulating a sales plan to increase sales
  • Manage department P&L including department budgets
  • Have experience in negotiating terms including price, delivery, and quality with both customers and vendors
  • Develop and support pricing structures with business value analysis which will enable identification of prices for proactive bids
  • Develop supplier network to source components where required to meet customer requirements
  • Have complete knowledge of component airworthiness certification requirements
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure on-time delivery of sold components
  • Support Controller with in obtaining payments from customers
  • Identify new strategic, long-term customers and opportunities to include both airlines and other aviation companies

 Reporting Relationships:

Reports to President of the company and other leaders within the organization.

Qualifications & Experience

Relationship building, emphasizing excellence, maintain a high energy level, negotiation, prospecting skills, meeting sales goals, creativity, sales planning, independence, motivation for sales, customer service, self-confidence will be required.

In addition, candidates should possess the following:

  • Aviation focus, Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Ten years minimum experience in component sales and acquisition.
  • Technical background and experience in records trace for aircraft, engines, and major components
  • Sales background – Component Trading experience is preferred
  • Established track record of developing & retaining long-term strategic customers across the different sectors of the aviation industry
  • International sales experience and knowledge of global cultures ideal.
