Director of Technical Sales & Project Development Specialist – Remote/Hybrid

Position Summary
The employer specializes in aviation fueling infrastructure and new fueling-system projects.

The Technical Sales & Project Development Specialist is responsible for supporting the development of new fueling-system opportunities from initial customer contact through design coordination, pricing, and proposal development.

The position serves as a customer-facing point of contact for new fueling-system opportunities and works with the company’s design and construction teams to develop the information necessary to define, price, and propose projects.

The position also supports the company’s marketing and lead-generation activities, participates in trade shows, maintains sales-side project files, assists with invoicing and collections, and coordinates the company’s weekly project status call.

Summary of Role
The Technical Sales & Project Development Specialist serves as the connection between the customer, sales opportunity, fueling-system requirements, design process, Bill of Materials, pricing, and proposal.

The position begins with generating or receiving a prospective opportunity, communicates with the customer regarding the proposed fueling system, supports the customer and design team during system development, prepares the applicable Bill of Materials and pricing information, and assists the company in converting the opportunity into a project.

In addition, the position performs the specifically assigned marketing, trade-show, sales- file, invoicing/collection, BOM-meeting, and weekly status-call responsibilities described above.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
1. Marketing Support
Assist in preparing materials used to communicate the company’s capabilities and services to prospective customers.
2. Trade Shows & Lead Follow-Up
Attend applicable trade shows on behalf of the company.
Meet and communicate with prospective and existing customers at trade shows.
Identify and collect information from prospective leads. Conduct follow-up with leads generated through trade shows.
3. New Fueling-System Inquiries
Receive and respond to telephone calls related to potential new fueling systems.
Gather initial information from prospective customers regarding their fueling-system needs.
Communicate with prospective customers regarding potential company projects.
4. Lead Generation & Customer Development
Generate prospective sales leads for the company.
Contact and communicate with prospective customers.
Follow-up with prospective customers and leads.
Work to develop sales opportunities and secure fueling-system projects for the company.
5. Sales Project File Management
Manage and maintain the sales-related portion of the company’s Shared Folder for prospective and active projects.
Maintain sales-related customer and project documentation within the appropriate Shared Folder files.
6. Customer Coordination During Design
Communicate with customers during the design process.
Assist customers in making decisions regarding the required capacity for their new fueling system.
Assist customers in evaluating and selecting equipment and available system options. Communicate customer decisions and requirements to the company’s design team.
Remain involved with the design team as the project design is developed.
Follow the progress of the design through completion.
Remain involved with the design team through the process of obtaining the required project permit.
7. Bill of Materials & Project Pricing
Create the Bill of Materials (BOM) required for prospective projects.
Work with the company’s construction team to obtain assistance in determining the site-work requirements and associated pricing.
Compile equipment and site-work information necessary to develop project pricing. Prepare the applicable site and equipment pricing for presentation to the customer.
8. BOM Meetings (Bill of Materials)
Coordinate and manage designated BOM review meetings. Review the components required for project pumping skids. Review the components required for project tanks.
Coordinate with applicable the company personnel to identify the components required for the project’s Bill of Materials.
9. Invoicing & Collections Support
Participate in customer invoicing activities associated with applicable projects. Assist with follow-up regarding outstanding customer invoices.
Participate in efforts to collect outstanding invoices.
10. Proposal Preparation
Review project specifications related to potential the company opportunities. Review applicable project drawings.
Identify required materials and equipment from the specifications and drawings.
Develop a Bill of Materials (BOM) based on the project specifications and drawings.
Use the applicable project information and Bill of Materials (BOM) to prepare a proposal for the project.

Required Skills & Capabilities
Because the position combines customer interaction with technical project- development responsibilities, the successful individual should be capable of:
– Communicating professionally with prospective and existing customers.
– Generating and following up on sales leads.
– Representing the company professionally at industry trade shows. Understanding of aviation fueling systems and equipment.
– Communicating with customers regarding fueling-system capacity, equipment, and available options.
– Working effectively with the company’s design and construction personnel. Developing Bills of Materials (BOM) for fueling-system projects.
– Reviewing technical specifications and drawings to identify project requirements.
– Keeping an organized & Updated list of equipment, material, site-work, and pricing information.
– Preparing project proposals.
– Coordinating and leading BOM and weekly job status meetings.
– Maintaining organized electronic project and sales files.
– Communicating with customers regarding invoicing and outstanding receivables.
– Managing multiple customer and project-development activities simultaneously.

Technical Knowledge
– The position requires sufficient technical knowledge of Aviation Fueling Systems to perform the assigned responsibilities involving:
o Bills of Materials
o Site-work requirements and pricing
o Technical specifications
o Project drawings
o Fueling-system design coordination
o Position Boundaries
– The Director of Technical Sales & Project Development Specialist is responsible for the specific sales, customer communication, technical coordination, BOM, proposal, file management, invoicing and collection support, and meeting-coordination activities described in this job description.
– The position does not, solely by virtue of this job description, carry responsibility for:
o Establishing company-wide sales strategy
o Hiring, disciplining, or terminating employees
o Establishing company pricing or profitability policies
o Managing construction activities
o Managing the design department
o Serving as the company’s project manager
o Performing responsibilities outside those specifically assigned in this job description.
