Avionics Technician (Columbia, CA)

Compensation: $20.00 – $35.00 per hour Salary negotiable depending on experience.

The employer is a Part 135, 145 Avionics Repair Station, charter and wild land fire fighting flight operation located in Columbia California, is currently seeking an Avionics Technician as a team member supporting a fleet of Turbine/Piston Commanders, Helio Couriers, and single engine Cessna aircraft. As an emergency services provider, the employer is a mission-oriented company that responds rapidly in support of public safety services. The job involves the installation, modification, troubleshooting, wiring and repair of aircraft avionics systems, at home base and when deployed to other airports. Though not required for this position, an FCC license would be helpful as we conduct bench repairs as well as in aircraft calibrations. Relevant qualifications or previous avionics shop experience required – A&P and Turbine aircraft maintenance experience desirable but not essential.

This role is available as a FULL-TIME POSITION

Minimum Qualifications:
* Demonstrable, previous experience as an avionics technician in General Aviation.
* Study of electronics or equivalent OJT electronics knowledge required (please provide details; include Military or other specific training schools and experience you have).

Job skill Requirements:

* Demonstrate technical skills and knowledge in avionics/aircraft systems operational testing and troubleshooting with proven ability in efficiently and accurately troubleshooting a wide variety of GA (General Aviation) aircraft avionics systems is essential.

* Ability to fabricate per drawings and standard practices wire bundles and assemblies to include marking of wires, properly securing wires into bundles, and termination of wires into a variety of contacts and connectors.

* Ability to perform installations, remove and replace components, perform checks and tests within budgeted or estimated time.

* Knowledgeable and conversant with relevant FAA regulations.
* Ability to accurately document work performed.

* Able and willing to travel (during fire season we may work out of state for several days consecutively).

* Experience and ability to read, interpret and follow wiring diagrams, layout drawings, and parts lists.

* Must possess excellent oral and written skills, as well as strong analytical abilities.
* Excellent concentration and attention to detail with good work efficiency and accuracy.
* Ability to think creatively, while following documentation and maintaining prescribed quality standards.

* Ability to work both in a small team environment and also unsupervised.
* Ability to meet deadlines and adapt to constant changing work assignments.
* Willingness to work overtime when required.

Physical Capability and Expected Effort:
* Be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
* Standing for long periods of time, working in confined aircraft interiors, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching are generally required to perform the functions of this position, so capability of ease in accomplishing is a must.

Other Requirements:

* Possess a currently valid drivers license, will be subjected to a background check including vehicle-driving history.

* Ability to travel independently to and from the workplace.

* Will be subject to random alcohol and drug testing
