Job Description:
Are you a tenured aviation maintenance leader with extensive FAA Repair Station experience? Are you passionate about driving technical excellence, building high-performance teams, and ensuring compliance with rigorous regulatory standards?
The employer is seeking a Chief Inspector to lead the technical functions/test equipment maintenance. This critical technical role will oversee all aspects of our maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities, ensuring compliance, safety, quality, and efficiency across the board.
Note: Candidates without relevant FAA Repair Station experience will not be considered.
Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
- Oversee all repair station activities, ensuring alignment with FAA 145 regulations and internal quality assurance protocols.
- Lead the day-to-day operations of maintenance and overhaul processes for aircraft accessories, ensuring TAT (Turn-Around-Time) and quality goals are met or exceeded.
- Direct the planning, coordination, and supervision of all maintenance activities to support both scheduled and unscheduled workload.
Regulatory Compliance
- Serve as the accountable manager for FAA compliance, ensuring all maintenance practices adhere to the latest FARs, advisory circulars, and company-approved manuals.
- Maintain documentation and audit readiness for FAA inspections, customer audits, and internal reviews.
Technical Oversight
- Provide expert guidance on technical troubleshooting, repair methodologies, and component overhaul processes.
- Maintain and continuously improve repair station capabilities, tooling, and test equipment.
- Ensure up-to-date training and certification for all technicians and supervisory staff.
Team Development & Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of technicians, supervisors, and quality inspectors.
- Establish performance goals, career development pathways, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and safety.
- Promote cross-functional collaboration with Quality Assurance, Customer Service, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams.
Strategic Planning & Efficiency
- Implement LEAN practices and process improvements to reduce waste and optimize labor and material usage.
- Evaluate and enhance production planning tools to improve forecast accuracy and capacity planning.
- Monitor KPIs including shop productivity, rework rates, and customer satisfaction metrics.
Requirements:
Experience
- Minimum 10 years in an FAA Part 145 component repair station environment.
- Proven success managing accessory repair processes such as pneumatics, hydraulics, electrical systems, or landing gear.
- Strong experience managing and implementing DER (Designated Engineering Representative) repairs and working closely with engineering teams to develop approved repair processes.
- Extensive experience with the operation, calibration, and maintenance of aircraft accessory testing equipment, including test benches, flow stands, and electrical/hydraulic test rigs.
- Deep hands-on expertise in aircraft hydraulic and pneumatic systems, with a strong background in troubleshooting, repair, and overhaul of related components.
Certifications
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) License strongly preferred.
- Prior experience serving as a Repair Station Accountable Manager or equivalent under FAA regulations.
