Job Summary
The Director of Maintenance at our company is responsible for overseeing the Part 135/Part 91 Maintenance Department, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and managing maintenance operations for a fleet of aircraft. This role requires extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, personnel management, and the development of operational policies and procedures to enhance aircraft utilization and safety.
Responsibilities
– Oversee daily maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with FAA regulations and the company’s high standards of safety and quality.
– Oversee all maintenance performed on the aircraft operated by the company.
– Develop and implement maintenance policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and schedules to ensure timely and efficient maintenance operations.
– Experience with maintenance tracking and management software (CAMP, Engine and Airframe programs, Jeppeson, JetInsight, etc.) is required.
– Lead, manage, and develop the maintenance team, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
– Coordinate with the operations department to schedule aircraft maintenance, minimizing downtime and ensuring operational efficiency.
– Oversee the maintenance budget, including procurement of parts and services, cost control, and financial reporting.
– Ensure accurate maintenance records are kept in compliance with FAA and company requirements.
– Conduct business matters with aircraft owners, vendors, clients, employees, and the FAA.
– Manage relationships with external maintenance vendors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
– Stay updated on industry trends, FAA regulations, and technological advancements in aircraft maintenance.
– Lead investigations of any maintenance-related incidents and implement corrective actions as necessary.
– Participate in the strategic planning of the maintenance department, including fleet expansion and maintenance facility upgrades.
Requirements
– Minimum ten years of experience in maintaining aircraft with verifiable practical experience as an active aircraft mechanic.
– Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in a maintenance organization.
– Thorough knowledge of FARs, aircraft technical bulletins, service bulletins, and airworthiness directives.
– FAA Airframe and Power Plant Certification or license (A&P) is required.
– Must possess a valid driver license and meet the company’s vehicle insurance requirements. Strong leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and develop a team.
– Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

– This position is subject to drug and/or alcohol testing per the DOT/FAA requirements (pre- employment, random, reasonable cause/suspicion, post-accident).
– Experience in a Part 135 environment is preferred.
