Job Description:
Are you a seasoned procurement professional with a passion for aviation aftermarket parts? Do you possess a robust background in brokering, developing distribution deals, and leading purchasing departments? If so, we invite you to join the employing company as their Purchasing Director.
Responsibilities:
• Strategic Procurement Leadership: Develop and implement comprehensive procurement strategies to optimize the sourcing of aviation aftermarket parts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
• Vendor and Supplier Management: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with OEMs, MROs, and aftermarket suppliers to secure favorable terms and ensure timely delivery of parts.
• Contract Negotiation: Lead negotiations for distribution agreements and purchasing contracts, ensuring alignment with company objectives and compliance with industry regulations.
• Team Management: Oversee the purchasing department, mentoring staff, setting performance metrics, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Inventory Oversight: Monitor and forecast inventory levels to prevent shortages and overstock situations, collaborating with logistics and operations teams to streamline processes.
• Market Analysis: Stay abreast of industry trends, market conditions, and emerging suppliers to inform procurement decisions and maintain a competitive edge.
• Data-Driven Decision Making: Collaborate closely with the Data Analytics department to leverage internal purchasing and market data for informed, strategic decision-making. Use data insights to drive vendor selection, optimize purchasing strategies, identify opportunities, and improve margins. A strong understanding of how to interpret and act on aviation parts and procurement data is essential.
Requirements:
• Experience: 10-15 years in aviation aftermarket procurement, with a proven track record in brokering, developing distribution deals, and managing purchasing departments. • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Skills: Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, strategic thinking, proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce and AvSight), and a deep understanding of aviation industry practices.
• Travel: Willingness to travel frequently for supplier visits, industry trade shows and exhibitions, and regular on-site presence at the employer’s Seattle headquarters.
