Repair Station Chief Inspector – Charlotte, NC

Job Summary:

This position is primarily responsible for direction, planning, and laying out details of inspection standards, methods, and procedures on all phases of aircraft inspections, maintenance, repairs and/or alterations performed by the Repair Station, complying with FAA Regulations and Manufacturers recommendations by performing the following duties.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:

Perform Inspection Responsibilities

  • Ensure that all applicable Federal Aviation Administration (FAR’s) are complied with and documented.
  • Ensure that aircraft inspected and repaired by the Repair station are safe and airworthy.
  • Ensure that all applicable Airworthiness Directives are complied with and documented.
  • Ensure that all applicable and mandatory service instructions are complied with and documented.
  • Redirect and correct improper maintenance tasks or procedures.
  • Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
  • Perform Aircraft Maintenance tasks as needed and assist floor technicians with guidance as needed.
  • Responsible for exercising final inspection authority and authorized to sign any and all forms confirming compliance related to inspection, repair, and return to service.
  • Direct and train any employees assigned to the inspection department.
  • Ensure that the inspection records, reports, and forms utilized by the repair station are correct and properly executed.
  • Make periodic checks on all inspection equipment, tools, and the calibration of precision test equipment.
  • Know all the procedures for the Repair Station, the use of the forms, tags and completing the required paperwork as outlined in Repair Station Manual (RSM) & Quality Control Manual (QCM).
  • Inspect aircraft for proper workmanship and airworthiness before, during and after work is performed by all technicians.
  • Be point of contact for the Repair Station with the FAA when Repair Station Director is unavailable or as requested.
  • Responsible for return to service of aircraft, engines, appliances, and components maintained or inspected by the repair station.
  • Perform required annual training of repair station maintenance personnel in all courses described in repair station training manual. Keep up to date with latest industry training standards through portals such as the FAA, AEA, and others to evaluate and revise current training syllabi held by the Repair Station
  • Assist with initial Indoctrination training of new hires as requested.
  • Responsible for repair station vendor audits, from outside vendors as well as internal audits.
  • Responsible for always maintaining current technical publications whether in digital form or in paper copy for aircraft which the repair station works on.
  • Responsible for Log entries, FAA form 337 disposition, weight and balance amendments and AFM revisions.
  • Point of contact for FAA Inspections.
  • Maintain Technicians training files.
  • Submit revisions to the Repair Station RSM / QCM to the FAA for approval.

Job Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Aviation experience with at least one year in quality assurance function preferably with a background as 5 years aircraft mechanic in a Repair Station environment.
  • Current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification
  • Interpersonal skills with an emphasis on effective communication skills in both oral and written forms
  • Good organizational and communication skills
  • Well versed in airworthiness authorities’ regulatory requirements
  • Strong analytical skills, with ability to work under pressure and a high level of integrity.
  • Must exhibit a high level of motivation, sense of urgency, attention to detail, energetic approach to job duties and requirements.
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of the Federal Aviation Regulations
  • Communication Proficiency, both written and oral.
